So you thought the talent descriptions were cool? Well mages are just an amazing class to play and here are some more fun abilities.

Blink- This spell allows you to warp ahead into the direction you’re facing breaking any root or stun currently in effect on you.

Mirror Image- Once you get this ability you will be able to make copies of yourself which randomly cast frost bolts and fireballs at targets you’re attacking. If that’s not cool enough it also prevents any monster from attacking you as long as it has other targets attacking it as you have zero threat while the images are active.

Portals- As you level up you will be able to Teleport yourself all over the World of Warcraft with nothing more than a reagent and a 10 second cast time. How amazing that is for saving time is something you won’t realize until you have complete strangers  whispering  you asking for portals!

Vendoring Machine- Alright, it’s not really called that, instead you’re able to conjure water and food to restore your mana and health. You’re able to trade this with anybody else saving them the trouble of having to spend money on food.

Invisibility-  You get the ability to become invisible. Once you reach this state you can’t see any other players besides those who are also invisible or have a way to detect invisibility. This allows you to easily escape dangerous or even skip some monsters you just don’t feel like killing.

Polymorph- You can turn humanoids and beasts into various other animals. Even though this quickly restores their health it prevents any attacking allowing you to set up your attack in your own time. As if that isn’t powerful enough you also get the option to turn your target into a sheep, rabbit, a turtle and many more!

Evocation- Running low on mana? No worry this ability allows you to restore 60% of your total mana over 8 seconds every 4 minutes (and arcane mages can get this down to 2 minutes).

Choosing a profession

The mage is a very versatile class when it comes to picking professions.

mining/skinning- This always popular combination is always an option if you simply wish to gather resources and sell them

herbalism/alchemy- making your own potions to make sure you’re always able to pop a health or mana potion when you’re in need or simply keeping yourself buffed with one of the many elixirs.

tailoring/enchanting- this popular, though expensive, combination allows you to make your own gear with tailoring while disenchanting all the green items you don’t wish to use. This will give you materials to level up your enchanting or simply selling the gained materials on the auction house.

mining/engineering-although a bit more uncommon, using the mining to get your engineering up you can get some nifty gadgets, including the rocket gloves and nitro boost, to make yourself more mobile and damaging.

The Verdict

If you’re looking for a class that deals damage in huge packets from range this is one to look at. Even though the cloth armor makes you more vulnerable to attack you get plenty of abilities to keep yourself  at range. It’s a very challenging class to play especially in player versus player. This however is what makes it so enjoyable for most of the players. On the other hand you get the big advantages of being able to teleport all over the world and being able to make your own food instead of having to buy it from a vendor.

Besides having 3 unique talent trees to keep you going if one starts to hang on you a bit. They all have unique playstyles and all are viable with the right player behind it. Even if some consider the mage one of the easier classes to play its still one of the hardest to master.
