In this WoW leatherworking guide you'll learn how to quickly and cheaply level your leatherworking.Leatherworking combines very well with skinning if you wish to keep the costs down. If you don't you'll have to buy your own materials which can be quite expensive so do keep that in mind.

Remember that a lot of the items you make can be disenchanted aswell. This could help making back some of the money you invested, or even give you a good profit if you did your own skinning.

Remember that a lot of the items you make can be disenchanted aswell. This could help making back some of the money you invested, or even give you a good profit if you did your own skinning.

Let's get started.

If you're buying your materials from the auction house you should start by finding a good city that allows for easy travel between trainer and AH/mailbox. I recommend Stormwind (dwarven district) and Orgrimmar.

Remember to learn Journeyman Leatherworking

These are used later on, don't vendor them!

Hang on to these aswell.

Remember to learn Expert Leatherworking.

You will have to buy the pattern here

Don't sell these, you will need them.

Rember to learn Artisan Leatherworking.

Rember to learn Master Leatherworking.

  • 290-300
10 x [Wicked Leather Headband] - 120 Rugged Leather, 10 Black Dye, 10 Rune Thread
  • 300-310
    20 x [Knothide Leather] - 100 Knothide Leather Scraps
If you can't get the scraps you could start making the next item from 300
  • 310-325
    23 x [Knothide Armor Kit] - 92 Knothide Leather
  • 325-335
    43 x [Heavy Knothide Leather] - 215 Knothide Leather
You may have to make a few more than this, if you prefer you can go to the next step but you'll need some more heavy knothide leather (3 extra per skillup missing).
  • 335-350
15 x [Thick Draenic Vest] - 45 Heavy Knothide Leather, 15 Rune Thread

Remember to learn Grand Master Leatherworking.

Remember to learn illustrious Leatherworking

You can start the next step if scraps are scarce.

You have to stop making these at 504 or you won't get the 3 guaranteed skill ups from the next item

Make either depending on which is cheaper. This part is really frustrating as both of them are green and luck will decide how much money you'll have to sink into them. There is no other good option.

  • 510-525
From this point onwards you have to be level 84 or higher and have started the few early quests in Twilight Highlands to unlock your Leatherworking Vendor
Threm Blackscalp can be found at Dragonmaw Port in Twilight Highlands if you're a horde player.
Alliance players on the other hand can find
Misty Merriweather at Highbank, twilight highlands.
If you choose you may want to make different items depending on your server. The reason for this is that you'll be leveling up on crafting PvP items and not only do they require 10 heavy savage leather to buy, certain items are made a lot more than others as people just want to get to 525 as quickly as possible. I recommend you check your auctionhouse and see if you could possibly make a profit, or simply lose less money by getting these last few skill ups. If you don't care just go by the following to have the lowest material costs:

  • 510-515
3 x [Bloodied Leather Bracers] - 30 Heavy Savage Leather, 30 Volatile Fire
  • 515-520
2 x [Bloodied Leather Boots] - 20 Heavy Savage Leather, 20 Volatile Fire

  • 520-525
3 x [Bloodied Leather Helm] - 30 Heavy Savage Leather, 30 Volatile Water

Congratulations on getting to 525! If you have any suggestions for this guide feel free to contact me here.
