Druid Guide
Druid Gimmicks
The druid has quite a few fun and powerful abilities and I’ll discuss a few
here.
Innervate- Every druid gets this ability restoring 225% of your base mana
pool (this is the amount of mana you have with no gear and talents) over 10 seconds to any friendly target.
Very useful to keep you going while leveling or giving your healer that extra mana to keep people
up.
Rebirth- The only class with a resurrection spell that can be used
proactively in combat. If for whatever reason an ally dies and you feel the fight isn’t lost yet you can use
this spell to resurrect them and keep the fight going.

Tranquility- Every druid gets this powerful spell. While channeling this
spell you heal all group members in range for a huge amount every 2 seconds for 8 seconds. Whether you can’t
keep up suddenly as a healer, or the actual healer can’t this could very well be a life
saver.
Starfall- The last talent for moonkins allows them to summon a flurry of
stars. These stars randomly deal damage to targets in range and deal extra damage if targets of the stars are
close to other enemies.
Force of Nature- A balance druid can summon 3 treants and make them attack
his enemies. These treants deal considerable damage and definitely can’t be ignored.
Typhoon- Another balance talent, this one allows you to knock back targets in
front of you while dealing minor damage and slowing the targets. Once again, a lovely ability for knocking
people of off ledges making them plummet to their death!
Berserk- The final feral talent allows you to temporarily reduce the energy
cost by 50% for all your spells. In bear form this removes the cooldown and rage cost of mangle while also
changing it from a single target attack to hitting 3 targets.
Swiftmend- This restoration talent allows you to instantly convert one of
your heals over time into a direct heal that heals equal to the full duration of that heal over time. You
might have to re-read that last sentence!
Wild Growth- This interesting spell heals a target and up to 4 others within
range. It applies a heal over time which decreases in strength as it runs its course.
Cyclone- This ability stuns the target while making them immune to damage and healing. This is a
very versatile spell and requires some sophistication to time properly.
Choosing a
profession
Considering the versatility of the druid you can make any profession
combination work as long as you choose it for the appropriate playstyle. As such I’ll give some suggestions
per spec
Cat/Bear-Mining/Skinning allows you to gather and sell resources.
Skinning/Leatherworking allows you to keep your armor up to date.
Moonkin- Tailoring/Enchanting allows you to make some spell damage gear.
Leatherworking doesn’t provide too much caster gear and as such it’s worth dropping the armor to gain the
items with valuable stats at the armor cost. Enchanting gives you the ability to enchant your gear and
disenchant the gear you make with tailoring that aren’t being used. The materials you gain from disenchanting
can then be used to level your enchanting further. Herbalism/Alchemy is a solid option to supply yourself
with health/mana potions but also elixirs which boost your spell power and intellect. Mining/Skinning is
always an option for those in need of money
Restoration- In all fairness, you shouldn’t be playing this specialization
until you hit the max level and can start focusing on instances and raids. As such you’ll be so far in the
game you can find out yourself what you want for your druid. If you need some hints I could suggest
herbalism/alchemy or enchanting/leatherworking.

The verdict
The druid is by far the most versatile class. There’s no role or sub spec
that you can’t fulfill. Unfortunately the druid is a bit tedious to level at the lower levels as the
abilities aren’t spaced out as I reckon they should’ve been. If you like what you read in this world of
Warcraft druid guide I’m sure you’ll get through it and you’ll be glad you did. Even around level 30 the
druid in cat form becomes arguably the best level and once you hit the zones where flying is allowed your
instant flight form is so powerful that nothing can keep up. Even if you decide to level as balance you will
still have the option to stealth past monsters with your cat form saving you time and unnecessary fighting.
All in all the druid is a quite
complicated class because of the many animal forms and roles you can fulfill. Because of this new players
might want to reconsider making this their first class. But if you do then once you get past the first few
levels you’ll be well ahead of most other players.
