World Of Warcraft Shaman Guide
The World of Warcraft Shaman is one of the classes that allows for the player to chose between three separate playstyles depending on personal preference. Whether you prefer do deal damage from melee or close range or decide to heal, the shaman allows you to chose between all 3 of them. As the game has aged the shaman has gone from a powerful buffer to a class that can fulfill the role of a primary damage dealer while still bringing huge versatility with their totems.

Getting started
The alliance doesn’t have much choice as they are forced into playing a draenei. Fortunately they’re a very strong race for shamans regardless. The horde on the other hand can pick between being a troll, orcs and taurens. All 3 races make great choices for shamans allowing even min maxers to focus more on aesthetics. Trolls generally make better healers and elemental shamans while orcs and taurens work a bit better in player versus player.
The unfortunate part of shamans is that they’re quite weak at lower levels. Even if you wish to play as a melee shaman you’re not able to do this efficiently until you reach the higher levels. Because of this you should be prepared to play as a caster shaman in your early shaman career while still mixing in some melee attacks with your weapon choice.
An often made mistake is wanting to drop totems for every fight you engage in. Make sure that you don’t do this unless you’re staying within range of the totems for a good amount of time as the totems last quite long (5 minutes) but also have a hefty mana cost.
Another often made mistake for shamans just starting on their journey is to spend all their mana casting their offensive spells. As mentioned before make sure that you make use of your melee attacks whenever you can to save yourself some mana. It is more mana efficient to kill a bit slower and instead using your mana to heal yourself.
The Shaman Roles
Healer (Restoration)- If you choose to go this path you’ll be a powerful healer. Not only will you be able to heal single targets up quickly you are also able to heal multiple targets better than anybody else as long as they stay close together. The restoration shaman is a diverse healer because of this while still being able to bring powerful buffs with their totems.
Damage (Elemental)- If you choose to go this route you will be using nature and fire spells to damage your enemies from afar. You get tools to keep targets away from you or make them deal less damage to you. Elemental shamans might just have the highest burst damage in game! You also get additional totems and buffs to make yourself and your allies even stronger.
Damage (Enhancement)-If you want to get up close and personal on your shaman the enhancement specialization is an excellent choice. Once you hit around level 40 you could start playing this spec efficiently. This gives you the ability to dual wield from talents and additional melee attacks. You will deal a lot of melee damage with your powerful weapon buffs combined with your ability to still add in spells you will be a force to be reckoned with as long as you can get in melee range.
